SF Eaters – A private meal at Jai Yun

on

After several SF Eaters meals at restaurants with Californian or fusion cuisine, February was the month for Asian cuisine, so we went to Jai Yun in Chinatown, to experience a more intimate Chinese food experience.  Jai Yun, for those uninitiated, is a reservation-only restaurant that you must call in advance to prepare your meal.  It’s been cited as one of the best Chinese restaurants in the city so we had to check it out.

The dishes were quite delicate and came out in several small plates for the group to share.  We were a lively bunch and as with any good Chinese meal, the food was served on a lazy Susan, which was in full effect during the meal.  See below:

We had numerous dishes, ranging from vegetables, spicy chicken, and pork shoulder, and more, but it was hard to keep track of them all.

This dish was one of the more flavorful ones.

Here was another dish that had pork, thick vermicelli noodles as well as vegetables.  Overall the food was tasty, but perhaps the next time we try Jai-Yun, we order the next price-tier in menu – which had lobster, and all kinds of seafood.
